Classen Coffee Portrait Session

Back in Summer 2021, I wanted banana leaf wallpaper and neon lettering in my room and I was listening to Swept Away by Christopher Cross on repeat. My desired aesthetic was very much Jerry Seinfeld’s parents or Lucy and Carol Burnett going to Florida. I know this is a very niche aesthetic, but when I bought a Hawaiian shirt from H&M I knew that it was time for my Henry Spencer from Psych summer to begin. I wanted to do a photoshoot in my hawaiian shirt, but I didn’t know where yet. When Neil and I decided to go get coffee at a place called Classen in Oklahoma City, I freaked when I saw the back patio. It was PERFECT for my summer aesthetic. Neil and I wanted to experiment with our creativity a little bit, and throughout the course of about an hour and a half we tried every pose and angle we could think of. I created a grainy, warm preset just for these photos, and Neil and I picked out our favorite shots. To this day, it is probably my favorite photoshoot of myself that we’ve ever done, and I’m constantly trying to match the same aesthetic and feeling that we captured that warm evening in Oklahoma City.
